Roll-Up Porch Shades
Whether your concern is privacy while you relax on the porch or simply that the afternoon sun is so intense that relaxing on the porch is not an option, our wood slat roll-up porch blind may be your answer.
Porch Shades are designed for use on screened porches, sun parlors and open verandas. Porch shades are intended to protect your porch from the intense rays of the afternoon sun or from blowing rain and inclement weather. All shades come with sway cords to protect the shade from wind damage during strong winds.
The porch shade provides privacy from the street traffic, as well as add a touch of tradition and elegance to your sun porch. You will find that sun shades made from wood slats are far more appealing than a plastic shade both aesthetically and practically, since a wood shade remains cool with exposure to the afternoon sun.
Interior roller shades that combine vinyl materials are rated for outdoor use on your deck or porch. If the sun is depriving you of the ability to enjoy your outdoor space, this product may be the answer. Shades can be built up 108″ wide and 108″ tall and can reduce the heat on deck surfaces by up to 15 degrees. Their sleek design allows the roller shade to roll up and contract into a small 4″ diameter preserving your view when not in use. Peachtree has developed a locking mechanism to secure these shades at the bottom to keep the shade from swinging wildly when the wind blows.

Solar roller shades are a versatile product that not only solve sun issues on the inside of the home but can also be used on the outside as well. This client needed to reduce the heat coming into their new screened in porch living space. Phifer Sheerweave Suntex 95 solved their issue by allowing us to install the solar shade material into the cassette housing which allows the client to control the height of the shade which in turns allow them to control the amount of heat entering into the space.
While it is not marketed as a product to eliminate water and rain, the double layers of screens do provide a significant reduction in water entering the living space. The unique locking mechanism (pictures Examples 01 & 02 above) is designed to keep the solar roller shade controlled in times of breeze or higher winds. It should be raised if a more sever storm is approaching.
Picture Example 05 demonstrates that while the roller shade is effective in blocking the sun and harmful UV rays, it still provides a generous view of the outside. Different fabrics can be selected to allow less or more view based on the customers needs. Picture Examples 06 & 07 provide an outside looking in view. Lighter colored shades like white reflect more of the sun’s rays and can provide ultimate privacy in the daytime.
It was discovered that this solar roller shade application reduced the interior temperature by 15 degrees at the height of afternoon.
